Trauma Insurance

Trauma Insurance text

Make sure serious illnesses don’t destroy your financial stability

Trauma Insurance or Critical Illness insurance pays you out a lump sum in the case you become seriously ill or injured by a critical illness or injury that’s covered by the insurance policy. To be eligible to make a claim, you need to survive the illness or injury for a period of at least 14 days from the date of diagnosis or the injury occurring.

Most insurance companies specify or cover 40-60 illnesses or injuries within trauma insurance. Some of the most common illnesses or injuries that are covered are:

  • Heart Attack
  • Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Organ Transplant
  • Loss of limbs
  • Loss of hearing, speech, or eyesight
  • Major diabetes requiring insulin
  • Arthritis

Why take Trauma Insurance?

In case you become critically ill or injured, trauma insurance is able to help you:

  • Eliminate or Reduce your debt
  • Offset lower levels of income for an income-earner when returning to work following a critical illness
  • Pay off medical bills in case you did not have medical insurance (please note: trauma Insurance is not a substitute for private medical or health insurance)
  • Creating cash for an emergency fund or cash reserve
  • Boosting retirement savings.

How much Trauma Insurance do I need?

When deciding on how much trauma insurance you can take, you need to strike the right balance between the financial situation you want your family to be in when you are recovering and the affordability of the premium.

We generally recommend you should have a trauma cover equivalent to at least 1-2 years of your salary.
